“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts…There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature–the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” – Rachel Carson
Autumn is a time of personal transformation. It is a season of permanence and change where we find the inner reserves of strength to change as well. To do this, we have to take the time to go within, release energy blocks and move through this regenerative clearing process as a part of our spiritual development.
As we were admiring the brilliant scarlet leaves of my Japanese maple tree, my friend shared an experience with me of walking through a magnificent golden leaf pile and feeling overcome with its beauty. He had read that the leaf’s life cycle mimics our human process of life and death and the transitory nature of life itself. When he thought of all the leaves on the ground, he saw that their journey was similar to our own capacity to lead meaningful lives within a limited time on earth.
In the natural world, cycles perpetuate life, such as the changing seasons, which reflect healthy growth or transformation. Having a conscious awareness of participating in the cyclical transformations of life affords us a spiritual clarity that promotes healing and a sense of wholeness. There is an amazing sense of peace that comes with knowing that we all move through such life and death cycles throughout our lives and with every transition bringing the uncertain and unpredictable opportunity for change.

This is such a lovely post about being aware of how the change of seasons mirror our lives. This topic is near and dear to me. Living in the northeast, I have always used the cue of the changing seasons as a natural time to reflect, regroup, plan and move forward.
