Be Love Ambassadors This Holiday and Everyday
Whether we are going abroad or down the street, we can travel as ambassadors of love. Each year on our wedding anniversary, Doug and I travel to a special destination to enter into a new sacred covenant with each other. This annual celebration provides an opportunity to reflect on the previous year, spiritually connect, and prepare our intentions for the coming year. We talk about changes that have occurred over the past year, what the highs and lows have been, and what the theme of our love story will be in the future. Traveling as ambassadors of love, Doug and I visited Egypt two months after its revolution in 2009. There we … [Read more...]
The Winter Solstice: Reflect, Let Go & Look Forward
For millennia, winter solstice celebrations have heralded the return of the light and are a time of quiet reflection and intention. In many Native American cultures, tribes and families would gather to start up a new year at the solstice and have a special celebration where they would make a request to the Great Spirit to eliminate certain things that they no longer wanted in their lives. As a way of representing this, they would craft six arrows: three to represent the things they did not want and three for the things they did want. They called them “death” arrows and “life” arrows because they held respectfully, the things they wanted to be … [Read more...]
Let Love Flow and Watch Your Life Transform
“To give love more generously, you have to receive love more graciously.” ~ Dr. Debra Reble Giving and receiving love releases a continuous stream of positive energy that supports spiritual clarity, creativity, and personal effectiveness; strengthens the immune system, eliminates energy blocks, and diminishes fear, stress, and negativity. It brings you into emotional balance so you feel less irritated when someone cuts in front of you in traffic, or when your partner makes an insensitive remark. It also helps you better observe your reactions, stop negative self-talk, cease judging others, and access your inner emotional guidance to make … [Read more...]
Holding the Space of Love in the Midst of Trying Times
To facilitate a shift in our current consciousness, we must transcend fear, anger, and negativity, and ascend to the soul of love. We can do this by learning how to avoid reacting from these emotions, and instead connect to a higher power or divine source (whatever that means to us) through our hearts. Like a periscope in a submarine, we must lift our gaze out of the shadowy aspects of human consciousness and obtain a more elevated, spiritual perspective. We must be clear that we are, first and foremost, spiritual beings navigating the sea of human processes, and we must trust that love has the power to open our hearts, raise our vibration, … [Read more...]
7 Ways to Cultivate Intimacy and Connection Around the Holidays
The holidays are upon us and we will spend more time with family, friends, and intimate partners than any other time of the year. Yet, even with the closest of partners, friends, or family, we may feel misunderstood, disconnected, or not seen or heard. Being seen, heard, and accepted for who we are is one of the most important elements in any intimate relationship. Many of us feel disconnected when people do not understand us, do not feel the way we feel, or do not see things the way we see them. Even communicating with others can be difficult when they seem to have different a perspective or opinion. Despite these challenges, we still have … [Read more...]
Celebrating the Holidays Free of Expectations
Celebrating the holidays without expectations can be challenging even for those of us who live an authentic life. How many of us dread the holidays because we have difficulty saying no, declining an invitation, or setting firm boundaries with our family members? Whether it be family traditions we feel obligated to continue, or relatives we feel we must visit, our minds are filled with endless to-do lists, expectations, and obligations at this particular time of year. Instead of it being a time of beauty, quiet reflection, and a celebration of our hearts, it becomes stressful trying to live up to the expectations of ourselves and … [Read more...]
Give Those You Love the Gift of Your Full Presence
The primary element in love is our divine presence. When we are truly present with another person, not distracted or guarded, we open a portal of loving energy that facilitates communication and healing. Presence is having the conscious awareness of what’s happening moment to moment without being caught up in your own thoughts. Looking deeply into another person’s eyes, giving them our undivided attention, and listening with an open heart are all elements of being present. Our divine presence, more than any other aspect of love, answers the basic connection question, “Is that person there for me?” It is in this sacred space of presence that … [Read more...]
Creating Abundance from the Inside Out
Creating a flow of abundance in our lives requires a harmonious balance of giving and receiving without expectations or conditions. To give love more generously, we have to receive love more graciously. This mutual exchange of loving energy creates an abundance of all things good. To attract abundance, we have to let go of being in control and trust that while like inevitably attracts like, it does so in keeping with its own divine timing. Our task is simply to sustain the flow of love unconditionally, which confers many blessings and benefits, among them the potential to manifest our dreams. This mutual exchange of energy is governed by the … [Read more...]
Say Yes to Vulnerability & Embrace Your Courageous Heart
"We don't think or feel our way into being courageous--we take inspired action." From my personal journal It takes courage to be who we are in the world. Courage comes from the Latin word for “heart.” To be courageous is to be open-hearted, speaking our truth honestly and openly with our whole heart. In other words, sharing our most intimate thoughts, feelings and experiences that comprise our true being. Loving ourselves enough to reveal our deepest vulnerabilities is the most courageous choice we can make. Unlike bravery which is externally motivated, courage comes from within. It sources deep within our hearts as self-love, acceptance … [Read more...]
