“One should dance because the soul dances.” – Holbrook Jackson
Being silly, spontaneous, and playful are keys to sustaining a flow of light energy in our lives. Because society often frowns upon adults being spontaneous and playful, we can sometimes feel inhibited about expressing ourselves freely. If we follow the advice to take life more seriously, grow up and act like adults, we lose our sense of life as a passionate adventure to be enjoyed and shared.
Children are our best teachers of playfulness because they endlessly infuse light-force energy into their daily interactions with life. Observe a child in imaginative play and you will see that there are no obstacles to their full self-expression. It is important for us to keep this childlike spirit every day by experiencing the things that keep awe, wonder and delight alive.
Humor, spontaneity and play naturally liberate the mind, open the heart, lift the spirit, and we feel free to channel our energies to create beyond any limitation. Fed by these sensual elements, we have a sense of riding the crest of a wave, dancing in the light, and being connected with our soul. In this state of “being,” there is no ego, self-consciousness, or reservation, but rather a naturalness, lightheartedness and a sense that nothing is more important than the present moment. Laughter comes easily, as does the ease and flexibility in playing with all possibilities in life.
So be silly and dance in the dairy aisle of the grocery store, giggle when you get drenched in the rain, sing while listening to your MP3 player and invite others to humor you or join in. Invent or seek out new activities that make you laugh, let go, and play with joyful abandon. As you infuse your life with humor, silliness and play, you can experience life from a new perspective of wonder. Life evolves miraculously when you embrace the philosophy of “Let’s see what’s next.”
