Absolute trust in ourselves governs how we perceive and respond to all challenges in life. It affords us the personal power to express pure love, flow with the stream of life, and transcend any difficult circumstance. For example, with such trust we can embrace every situation not as a source of fear or upset but as an opportunity for growth, even when it unravels the fabric of our lives, such as losing a job, ending a relationship, suffering from an illness, or grieving the loss of a loved one. Having absolute trust in ourselves supports us to live beyond negative mindsets, beliefs, and the fear-based patterns that cause us to second-guess our inner wisdom.
Unfortunately, many people lack absolute trust in themselves and their connection to source and thus live in fear. Perceiving everyone as a potential enemy and everything as disaster in the making, they continually check the stock market or their bank account to see if they are financially secure; they worry about wrinkles or physical symptoms, thinking they may be ill or growing old; they remain in unhealthy relationships to avoid being alone; they maintain social connections to make sure they belong; they try to secure their jobs by working for a promotion; and/or they feel anxious when anything offers an opportunity for transformation. Consequently, they live in a guarded state, with locks on their hearts as well as their doors to avoid getting hurt or feeling unloved.
Underlying these types of behaviors is often a fear of death, which influences all of our choices. We try to control and hold on to everything in our possession to reassure ourselves that we physically exist. While we may mentally understand that change is a constant, when people we love die, or we lose our job, or a close relationship ends, we panic instead of trusting that we are exactly where we are supposed to be at any given moment. When we are unable to accept change and release the past, we block the flow of energy we need to progress on our soul’s path.
Sustaining absolute trust in ourselves beyond condition is the key for manifesting a life based on our own internal security. Even though we may feel like we are operating without a safety net, absolute trust in ourselves and our connection to source is in fact our “safety net.” In trusting this powerful connection we realize that even though we are ultimately alone in the world, we are not separate from the rest of humanity. Embracing that we are the embodiment of pure love and light is the foundation for expanding beyond such feelings of alienation that prevent us from expressing ourselves as fully as possible.
We have the power to create our lives positively by trusting ourselves or negatively by surrendering to our fear-based patterns. Fortunately, we can shift from the fear-based message that we are powerless over our lives to the affirmation that we are the creators of our own reality. This sense of self-confidence increases when we acknowledge the innate trust and reliability that has allowed us to come this far.

Very nice post, Debra. We are expressing similar ideas in a presentation at the Gathering Place this coming Friday, June 10 at 6:30 pm. We’re showing our Water Films and discussing our creative process which touches upon some of the things you discuss here.
Thanks you for this writing.
